Puke Ariki/Haywards Korokoro Traverse – Belmont Regional Park

Regional Ride

Wellington, North Island

This challenging ride reward the rider with a traverse of the full length of Belmont Regional Park.

There's a fair bit of climbing involved, with the track starting at an altitude of 30m, crossing three significant peaks (Boulder Hill, Cannons Head and Belmont Trig) each of which is in excess of 400m high, and then descending almost to sea level. Starting at the Dry Creek ‘Haywards’ entrance the track rises to Boulder Hill, along farmland to the Airstrip, Round Knob, Cannons Head and Belmont Trig before descending into the Korokoro Valley and exiting at Cornish St in Petone. Along the way is a diverse range of landforms and vegetation, from farmland to native forest.
