The Great Rides and Cycle Trails of New Zealand

Queen Charlotte Track Video

The Queen Charlotte Track is a 71km mountain bike ride in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds on New Zealand's South Island. This 2 - 3 day ride stretches from Ship Cove to Anakiwa and features accommodation along the way - everything from DOC campsites, to luxury accommodation to backpackers.

In this second episode of the New Zealand Cycle Trail Video Series, we follow Matt from NZByBike and Kyle from Bare Kiwi as they experience this world-class mountain bike ride that's part of Nga Haerenga, The New Zealand Cycle Trail. The bottom 2/3s of the track is rideable year-round, whilst the top 1/3 is closed to mountain bikers during the busy summer season.

This is a Grade 3 - 4 mountain bike ride that combines challenging ascents along with thrilling downhills. You'll ride through native NZ bush, pine forest, through both DOC and Private land and along the shores of the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. It's a ride with no equal in NZ, and certainly belongs on your NZ mountain biking bucket list.

One of the huge advantages to riding the Queen Charlotte is the ability to have your luggage shuttled from each of your nightly accommodation spots - where a cold beer awaits you as a reward for your day's riding.

Episode 2: The Queen Charlotte Track
