Road cycling in the top of the South Island takes you through wine-filled valleys, and along the weaving Queen Charlotte Drive, one of the most scenic roads in the country. A great way to do this ride is as a loop, although a trip from Picton to Havelock and back won't disappoint you either!
For a 100 km Grape Ride loop, you can start from either Blenheim, Havelock or Picton and circle in either direction. For the simplest route, from Picton follow SH1 south to Blenheim, then follow SH6 through to Havelock before finishing down the scenic route (via Linkwater) back to Picton. However, there are some nice alternative route options through Marlborough, that could either shorten or extend your ride. For example, SH62 can take around 7 km off your journey.
If you want company, consider joining the Grape Ride race held in Autumn each year!
