This is the best option for those who find themselves in Dunedin and in the mood for a ride! A nice collection of trails, totaling some 15 km, and ranging in difficulty from easy to extreme.
The surfaces are clay and pine, best ridden in drier conditions. The area has various access points. The easiest way is to take the roads up to the monument at the top of the hill, and enjoy 280 metres of descent down the trails, but there are uphill trail options too.
Free to ride, but locals are encouraged to join MTB Otago or make a donation to support ongoing development. For the latest trail maps and info, check their website out here.
