We're excited to announce the official opening of another Great Ride of the New Zealand Cycle Trail Project - the Mountain to Sea Trail.
After months of planning and development, it's finally time to open what will undoubtedly be one of the greatest rides of Nga Haerenga. Starting at the base of Mt Ruapehu and finishing at the sea in Whanganui, the aptly named Mountain to Sea Trail will take in the best of the North Island and include a huge variety of riding and a 30 minute jet boat ride. From the snowy peaks of Mt Ruapehu, to abandoned settlements rich in heritage, to the peace and tranquillity of the Whanganui River, this multi-day adventure sums up the stunningly diverse scenery that cyclists can take in around New Zealand.
A three day cycle journey travelling the entire length of the Mountains to Sea Nga Ara Tuhono will take place on the Thursday, 26 April through to Saturday, 28 April. The ride will allow the NZByBike Cycle Trail Partners, iwi and the local communities to showcase their fantastic sections of the trail. A blessing and opening event will be held in Ohakune with another event to be held in Whanganui at the end.
