The Wainuiomata valley is surrounded by bush clad hills and valleys. There are many tracks, fire breaks, and 4x4 roads in the area, providing a wide range of recreational possibilities.
Note that significant areas are off limits to mountain bikes, including the Orongorongo Valley and all of the tracks running down from Mount Lowry into Eastbourne.
