The definitive where-to-ride guide for cycling in New Zealand

Boggy Pond

Regional Ride

Wairarapa, North Island

The area is used by duck shooters in season, but otherwise is fairly quiet.

The ride is a well mown grassy track across the top of a stop-bank between Matthews lagoon and Boggy Pond. Although grassy, the ground is hard and uneven so riding isn't always easy, and watch for 4WD wheel ruts. The track goes 75% round the lagoon, but the last section joining back to Parera Road is private land and is fenced off. The lake is shallow and boggy. Return the same way.
