Millennium Walkway
Regional Ride
Queenstown, South Island
This easy circular route leaves from Arrowtown and follows the banks of the Arrow River downstream. The trail was built to commemorate 150 years of European Settlement in Otago. It's an easy trail that passes the site of one of the first quartz mines in New Zealand where gold was extracted in the 1860s.
After a kilometer or so from leaving Arrowtown you will reach the first major foot bridge crossing the river. Cross this and head down the other side of the river. A kilometer downstream you will come to the end of the trail and another bridge crossing back to the Arrowtown side of the river. Make your way back upstream and to Arrowtown.
The trail is particularly beautiful during the Autumn months of April and May when the leaves on all the trees turn glowing oranges, yellows and reds.
