Hanmer Springs is a small resort town of about 1,000 people just over an hours drive away from the South Island's population centre of Christchurch. Hanmer Springs sits in a stunning, alpine location and is built around the natural, mineral hot springs which are found in town's centre - a relaxing treat during any season.

 As a resort town, Hanmer Springs swells during the summer and winter months. There are accommodation options for every budget and Hanmer Springs is known for the wide variety of outdoor sports activities found just outside of town. One of the New Zealand Great Rides - the 50 km long St James Great Trail - is found just north of Hanmer Springs.

Kaikoura on the Pacific Coast is just under a two hour drive away.
