Jacks and Jollies Passes
Regional Ride
Canterbury , South Island
This Loop ride crosses two passes as it circumnavigates Mt Isobel (1319) from Hanmer Springs.
For a clockwise loop, take Jacks Pass Road out of town for 1km. Turn right at the ski field sign and climb over the pass.
At the Clarence River, head right again and cycle for 10km, down to the signposted Jollies Pass Road, witch takes you over the pass and back to town. For a more exciting and technical downhill from near the top of Jollies Pass, veer right onto a pylon track. After climbing for 300 metres, enjoy a brake-searing descent through the bush.
Notes: Most of this ride is coverd in snow during winter, which makes it very beautiful, but if a vehicle hasn´t been over the road and compacted the snow, you could be in for about 8 hours of bike pushing.
