This track forms part of Te Araroa and is signposted with orange markers - follow these. At the end of Mathew Rd, turn right up the hill following a dirt 4WD track to the summit. A bit steep in places which may require you to push your bike. From the summit at the transmission tower, ride down Moirs Rd for a few hundred metres to the start of the muddy, pig dug-up, rutted Barkers Road track to Ahuroa Rd. All downhill parts are fun not too hard.

Directions

If you want to do a loop, park at the track end at the intersection of Ahuroa Road and J Tolhopf Road.
Then ride west on Ahuroa to West Coast Road and head north.
West Coast Road turns into Woodcocks Road and cycle until you get to Mathew Road.
Right on Mathew Road and the start of the track is at the end of the metal road. This route is half metal road, half sealed road but is a very pleasant ride of about 17km. Allow about 45 mins to ride this. Access to the middle of the track can be made from the end of Moirs Hill Road.
